GE Healthcare Job Description

The Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) at GE Gas Power develops sales and commercial leaders through stimulating rotational assignments and a rigorous training curriculum. CLP prepares its members for off-program placement in commercial roles by providing the opportunity to learn about GE Gas Power products and customers, while also making significant contributions to the business.
The Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) is a two-year program with four rotations, each six months in duration. Assignments will vary but will relate to commercial operations, pricing, marketing, product sales, or other sales support functions. CLPs are expected to be active outside of their main roles by taking part in or leading various small projects, committees, and other activities. In this role you are expected to leverage your problem-solving and people skills to bring solutions both internally and externally.

Essential Responsibilities

Throughout the two years duration of the program, the assignments will vary depending on business requirements and the off-program role objectives. However, the CLP can expect the following responsibilities at one point or another during program:

  • A two-year program providing on the job experience with personalized rotation assignments within the commercial functions and other areas of GE Gas Power giving you exposure to different areas, products, and leaders.
  • World-class training in sales, leadership, and business skills. Program participants strengthen their commercial, business, and leadership skills by completing an intensive curriculum of classroom, hands-on, and online training.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Team to support development of the overall business growth strategy, including market analysis and market opportunities identification and execution of the sales growth plan
  • Support the Sales Managers to define the sales strategy for targeted clients and develop a thorough understanding and analysis of the core markets.
  • Support the Sales Managers in the negotiation with customers; ensure deals deliver shareholder value to contribute positively to sales, orders, and profitability
  • Work very closely with the Sales Manager to build the Risk & Opportunities analysis and the associated mitigation plans.
  • Manage and negotiate commercial and contractual risk with the Inquiry to Order (ITO) process.
  • Make technical presentations to the customers
  • Partner with the Proposal team in the development of proposals to meet customers’ and sales team requirements.
  • Accepting of formal mentoring and coaching by senior management
  • Liaise, support, and monitor with the Commercial and Finance departments to ensure customers pay promptly and work with senior management of any necessary actions to ensure the business recovers all outstanding debts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant science degree, preferably in Electrical, also open to Mechanical, Power Systems, Industrial Engineering, etc.
  • Academic excellence; minimum 3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (out of 4.0)
  • English fluency.
  • Prior intern or co-op experience, or relevant work experience (0-3 years) in sales, sales support, or marketing in the Energy industry
  • Demonstrates a strong interest for sales and commercial in the Energy industry
  • Legal authorization to work in South Africa. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
  • Geographic flexibility for rotations

  • Proven leadership skills in university clubs, non-profit organizations etc. is a plus
  • Able to coordinate many tasks concurrently

Purpose of the role!

Enable valuable and actionable data-driven insights, translating them into meaningful action plans to enrich our commercial performance, support commercial resources allocation decisions across GE Healthcare EMEA Region. Drive regional SFE performance monitoring dashboards and provide regular reports to the EMEA Region General Managers (GMs), Strategic business units (SBS) GMs, Sales Managers, and the different Commercial Operations team to ensure continuous improvement around commercial activities such as OP setting, Market Segments targeting and prioritization.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Work with relevant internal stakeholders (Zones/SBUs Commercial Operations teams, Sales leadership team, Finance, Marketing, Services, Commercial Platforms, and DT) to design and implement GE Healthcare EMEA commercial analytics framework, capabilities, and methodology to drive meaningful Salesforce analytics.
  • Co-lead the deployment of the newly acquire territory management platform/tool (ANAPLAN) in partnership with the commercial platforms, digital technologies, and sales leadership teams.
  • Rollout the capability, ensuring integration into business processes as well as continuous improvement mindset to ensure SFE/SRO analytics gets enhanced and become part of daily management.
  • Ensure alignment with the different stakeholders for proper data acquisition and update.
  • Lead all related with Commercial Competences Analytics following ASPIRE Framework assessments, working hands on in different platforms (Excel, Tableau or DOMO) to understand competency gaps and trends, working in partnership with Commercial L&D and HR team mates to define best learning solutions to close those gaps.

Required Qualifications

  • Commercial and operational acumen, with senior experience demonstrating a propensity for analysis, working with numbers, and ability to take on increased responsibility in a dynamic, fast paced environment with limited direction, leveraging analytical tools.
  • Leadership skills to influence cross functional teams, with special ability to drive continuous tools & process improvement by using lean management practices.
  • Strong team player spirit, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving capabilities are a must.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to think methodically, reason, embrace concepts, formulate insights, and present compelling cases for action and/or arguments to support fast decision-making process.
  • Ease to express insights & recommendations using verbal and written communication (in English), with the ability to synthetize data, understanding business dynamics and expected commercial outcomes.
  • Resourceful, strong track record in project management and delivering results with speed and under pressure.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SFDC Platform, Einstein (Tableau) Analytics, and Spotfire. ServiceMax is an asset.
  • Fluency in English. Any other relevant EMEA language is a plus.
