Our positions of Sales Promoter in Johannesburg, South Africa:
Our position, The Sales Promoter is responsible for promoting product range (all brands) by calling on chefs, bakers, confectioners and distributors – both current customers and prospects, familiarizing them with products available from Barry Callebaut for their applications. The incumbent provides technical assistance to customers and prospects when needed, while continuing to strengthen the relationship with the customer and provide a value-added service. This position holder builds strong relationships with chefs, bakers, confectioners, and others in the culinary community.

Description of Tasks:

  • Proactively plan, manage and pursue sales leads; visit existing and new customers, such as confectioners, pastry shops, bakeries, restaurants and hotels, applying good time management techniques.
  • Assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products and services.
  • Respond to customer enquiries; negotiating prices within limits of authority; and concluding sales orders to meet revenue targets.
  • Identify, research, and contact prospective customers and build positive relationships that will generate future sales and repeat business.
  • Manage distributors in how they supply, sell and promote Barry Callebaut portfolio and brands.
  • Coordinate Trade Marketing and Technical activities between BC and specific customers.
  • Develop Chef-to-Chef relationships.
  • Establish annual, quarterly, monthly, or weekly sales plans and prioritise and schedule own activities so these targets are met.
  • Conduct other Group-related office work, including admin tasks (Salesforce platform, weekly reporting, price list management etc.).
  • Register commercial activities in Salesforce
  • Maintain and continually build a strong knowledge of the Barry Callebaut product range, sales and commercial processes.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in food science or similar vocational education
  • Knowledge/interest in Chocolate/Gourmet industry (desirable)
  • Experience with SAP/Salesforce (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of Google Mail
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to build relationships
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player, in a collaborative and supportive manner
  • Ability to build sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication
  • Used to working in a high volume, fast paced, ever-changing environment
  • Self-motivated, flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, priorities and manage time effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving skills3-4 years of relevant working experience in Sales, preferably in a multinational FMCG company

Head of Chocolate Academy South Africa

Our position The Head of Chocolate Academy is responsible for the provision of specific application and product development in response to commercial requests and participation in agreed training programs at the Academy. The incumbent has full ownership of the Chocolate Academy on technical and operational side as well as for the course program. The Head of Chocolate Academy manages and coaches the team in the Chocolate Academy. Acts as a technical expert for clients and ambassadors, internally and externally.

Description of Tasks:

  • Being responsible for the Chocolate Academy on technical & operational side and take full ownership of the course program.
  • Ensuring support to the Sales and Marketing function through the provision of effective training and demonstrations both within and outside the Academy with the aim to increase sales volumes, profitability, and brand awareness.
  • Taking ownership in creating, innovating, implementing, and communicating specific customer segment product development applications.
  • Planning specific trainings within budget and quality targets provided.
  • Providing trainings and demonstrations to the highest possible level of competence and within the objectives established by customer and commercial requests.
  • Oversee the planning of and ensure that specific Academy courses, curriculum and external trainings take place.
  • Driving the execution of agreed training program in the Academy and externally to meet set commercial objectives.
  • Participating in the yearly Chef Seminar, and regional and international ambassador meetings (yearly).
  • Coordinating and provisioning requests for marketing and trade marketing, based on information provided by local markets to make recommendations where appropriate to central marketing on new products, ranges, tools etc.
  • Evaluating the ongoing profitability of individual courses and amend future programs to maximize incomes.
  • Coaching, leading and supporting the team, ensuring a positive work environment.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in customer relationship management, ​in particular at large and complex organizations
  • Proven experience inside a chain
  • Proven experience with project development
  • Ability to convince stakeholders engaging cross functional teams
  • Expertise into products
  • Understanding of the full manufacturing chain of the products
  • Technical background in food
  • Understands of operational challenges of the target customer

Your profile:

  • Advanced education in bakery, pastry
  • 10+ years of experience as a chef working in pastry and chocolate internationally and domestic
  • Understanding of commercial and training objectives for all specific activities.
  • 5+ years of experience in people management
  • Strong communicator with teaching skills
  • Fluent in English
