For almost five decades, BankservAfrica has provided critical interbank payments infrastructure to the South African banking sector, and through it, to the people and businesses of South Africa. Our recently launched cross-border payments scheme, TCIB (Transactions Cleared on an Immediate Basis), is revolutionary for the ordinary person in the SADC who wants to make instant, secure and affordable cross-border interbank payments across the region. With the service now live and ready for business, the mission of our Africa division is to land TCIB in as many markets within the SADC as possible and we are looking for the person to help us get there.


The purpose of this role is to expand the total market for BankservAfrica offerings to the rest of Africa, thereby increasing the potential for business and product growth in line with the overall BankservAfrica Growth Plan.

Key Performance Areas

1. Extend current offerings within existing markets by converting non-users into users

  • Identify and develop new market segments for current offerings
  • Identify and qualify opportunities for new offerings within existing markets
  • Identify and enter new communities and develop them into new target markets

2. Contribute to the achievement of the organisational objectives through structured and quality delivery of Work Deliverables

  • Develop a Business Development Plan in support of expanding the total market of the organisation
  • Demonstrate innovative and solution thinking and translate this into working practice
  • Generate and Communicate collateral related to standards, templates, methods and tools used for business development.
  • Evaluate and conduct situational assessments to markets that may be of interest, to create and sustain stakeholder engagement in these markets.
  • Conduct research to inform and support the execution of the Business Development Plan
  • Develop an opportunity matrix per market segment to quantify and list the opportunities identified in the market
  • Assess and map stakeholders & establish new networks
  • Identify marketing opportunities and attend events
  • Engage with prospective stakeholders that will enable and support the organisation’s growth strategy
  • Write proposals/ respond to tenders that supports the organisation’s growth strategy
  • Produce activity pipelines as result of the Business Development Plan execution

  • Appropriate tertiary/business related qualification
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in related field

Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in Market Analysis, Business Development, Market Activation Strategies, and Strategic Partnership Development and management.
  • Operational knowledge of financial services industry
