Professional Nurse

The Professional Nurse is responsible for collaborating with multidisciplinary team members; providing highly experienced and efficient clinical services and psychological support to participants, their families and supervising assigned team members whilst adhering to all relevant policies and regulations.

Technical Work Responsibilities
Provide and supervise comprehensive, safe and effective evidence based clinical procedures to achieve identified health outcomes
Manage all activities required for the implementation of the project
Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the South African Nursing Council and the Health Professions Council of South Africa
Enforce the rights of all participants and maintain cultural sensitivity
Plan, evaluate and manage clinical procedures in consultation with the multidisciplinary team
Provide comprehensive reports and recommendations on increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of processes

Duties
Liaise with all Stakeholders, when necessary, towards the achievement of Organizational and Departmental Goals
Conduct meetings with Staff
Coordinating communication within a Project, and liaising between Office and Clinical Team at Sites
Attend and facilitate Vaccination meetings for updates on the progress of the Project
Address concerns regarding individual management areas with the Heads of Health at Sub-District Level and other relevant Role Players
Assist Technical Staff to implement and monitor activities; and provide other needed operational support
Work closely with the Programme Manager/Coordinator and other key Technical Staff to ensure programme is successful
Coordinate and support planning, development, and implementation of Project Communications Strategy
Provide on-site communication support as required
Organize and supports communication strategies, messages and materials for Project trainings, Conferences, Workshops and Meetings
Gather, track, synthesize, and disseminate new business opportunities in the Public and Private Sectors to expand Sites
Communicate Project support needs and requests to senior management and clientele, provides administrative support where applicable
Compile daily distribution report and forward to the Pharmacy
Conduct monthly stock take and forward order to the Project Coordinator and Pharmacy
Record stock received and distributed Adhere to all SOPs, guidelines and confidential agreements
Programme Start Up:
Support the start-up and close out of Vaccination sites.
Develop plan of work (POW) and workflows specific to each site for the project lifetime
Support project team to develop project management plan
Monitoring Sites:
Documenting, reporting, supervision and supporting of Staff assigned to the Project
Responsible for quality service provision and reporting by the Teams
Responsible for quality control at sites
Assist in standard operating procedures development
Project Management
Tracking and monitoring all activities within the Project
Designing Tracking Databases, collating and analysing Tracking Data
Communicating with the quality Assistants about data quality
Produce consolidated Site Reports

Project preparation:
Recruitment and retention
Quality Reports financial tracking
Identifying potential problems or challenges within a Project and suggesting corrective action
Establishing partnership and networking
Maintain Contracts and communication with Subcontracting Companies
Supervise project implementation with support of health staff showcasing innovative strategies within implementation
Support multiple work teams to delivering high quality outputs
Monitor project work flows implementation to deliver on project targets
Undertake supervisory visits to project implementation sites to review project implementation and provide technical support for implementation
Continuously scope out and identify weak areas for intervention
Ensure adequate documentation of all projects generated data at all sites and levels
Submit technical reports on project implementation to project Team to enable compilation of donor and stakeholder reports
Attend meetings of health systems to provide technical assistance and support to public health service delivery
Provide technical assistance and support across the Project activities
Provide specific support to Project activities
Coordinate the administrative, logistical, and technical support for the smooth and efficient operation of the Program
Oversee the design and implementation of a Project
Develop and manage innovative mechanisms and tools to capture achievements and impact
Actively participates in the development of Monthly/Quarterly Reporting and any specialized technical planning or reporting
Respond to urgent requests / issues and contact the relevant managers
Develop capability statements for various geographical and technical expertise areas
Ensure the Team’s administrative challenges are attended to
Ensure that the Teams comply with the Company Policies and SOPs
Ensure that the Sites generate quality Data Reports
Adhere to data collection and recordkeeping
Ensure maintenance of Facility Equipment
Ensure that the Team Members are familiar with their targets
Preparing Sites for audits
Boardroom/Training Room bookings for meetings and trainings
Conducting studies activities to GCP standards
Maintaining regulatory files for the Projects
Conduct all study activities in accordance with the study protocol and standard procedures
Address and ensure error corrections are attended to
Adhere to data collection and recordkeeping
Ensure maintenance of Facility Equipment
Complete weekly Status Reports
Responsible for overseeing the Quality Control for all files regarding the Project
Responsible for preparing files and documents for Audits/Monitoring, in coordination with the QA Manager
Coordinate meetings agendas, minute taking and set up for the Operational Committee
Provide ad hoc support to all Team Members reporting to the HRH Programme Manager
Plan and organize Special Events/Outreaches, Workshops and Meetings
Ensure that Meeting Venues are set up
Assist with meeting logistics, including scheduling, preparing agendas, sending appointments, taking and circulating notes and following up on action items after meetings
Work with Project Coordinator to disseminate blogs and success stories through External Aurum Websites and other communication channels

Supervision of staff through:
Timesheets/clock-in/out system
Identify and address staff issues
Facilitate Staff training as required
Keep record of Staff leave and follow up on sick notes
Completing of Staff Performance Reporting on a quarterly basis
Participate in proactive Team efforts to achieve Departmental and Company goals
Adheres to all management SOPs, guidelines, and confidential agreements
Mentoring and coaching of Subordinates
Supervision of Subordinates by providing guidance and in-service training to identify and address all challenges
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
Support the Programme Team in technical planning, work plan development, information sharing and collection, and the preparation of Reports, Presentations, and other Program Materials
Provide overall leadership for the design and implementation of activities
Report all unsafe activities to Senior Management/Human Resources
Adhere and maintain Decision making authority as allocated to the position

Requirements
Education
Diploma in Nursing or a Bachelor of Nursing Degree
Registration with the South African Nursing Council

Advantageous
Advanced diploma in Primary Health Care
Good Clinical Practice Certificate
Counselling and Management Certificate or Similar
Trained as Vaccinator for COVID-19 Vaccines
Emergency Care and Assistance
Registered on EVDS

Experience
Minimum 4 years’ related experience and training
Minimum 3 years’ experience in clinical or public health research
Extensive counselling experience
Experience as a COVID-19 Vaccinator at Vaccination Sites
Supervising of teams

Requirements
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Valid Driver’s License and own vehicle
Overnight Travel when required

QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER
The Aurum Institute is offering a great opportunity to suitably qualified and experienced staff to contribute towards our mission to improve the health of people and communities through preventive research in communicable diseases.
Currently we are focused on researching, supporting and implementing integrated approaches to managing COVID-19, RSV and HIV.

YOUR JOB WILL BE:
Conducting in-house monitoring to ensure compliance with National COVID-19 guidelines, standard operating procedures, Memos and other Guidelines as applicable.
Ensure that all staff are using current versions required training and certification
Data verification of source data and relevant documents e.g. EVDS and reports
Give ongoing feedback on type of findings/trends etc.
Identify training needs in, and give feedback to the relevant site manager/operations manager
Developing and maintaining systems to ensure that correct data is collected by relevant staff
Raising study related queries with the relevant study team, escalation where neccessary
Review project developed source documentation.
Provide training on quality related topics.
Prepare for monitoring visits
SOP/WPG review and writing as applicable
Review corrective/preventive actions
Assisting the Quality Manager in implementing the Quality Management Plan
Performing other duties as delegated by your line manager
Ensuring version control of study documents
Ensuring timely reporting of all project activities using predefined indicators
Performing quality control of recording and reporting procedures including checking data collection tools for accuracy
Apply national and International legislation(s) pertaining to research
Ability to generate reports from Excel Data

Requirements
YOU SHOULD HAVE:
Relevant degree/diploma in Health, Sciences or Social Sciences or equivalent education
Valid GCP certificate
Work Experience:
At least 2 years research environment experience
Research experience
Previous work experience in a quality assurance/control environment advantageous
Proficiency in written and spoken English
